BOKKOS, MY LAST VISIT and why.

 

  I left the station two hours early, I had to get back home to change and pack up for the show in Bokkos.  That was my second time there,  I was ready for the show, and ready to return with some exciting memories and pictures, maybe even a video for you.  Turned out I was right about "exciting memories"  only it was exciting in a negative way.
  I met them at the convergence venue and we were off.  Journey was nice, no drinks but it was good, at least we got there safe and in time.
 Some how I found myself in bed,  I had gone to a friend's cousin's room,  next thing I heard was an artiste performing.  Oops! The show had started.  I quickly changed to my stage atire and headed for the hall.
  Outside was crazy, many many people wanting to force their way in, shouting angrily.
  The gate fee was reduced from N500 to N300,that maybe even worsened the situation, they wanted to get in for free. Some even declared that the show was not going to hold.
  I miraculously found my way inside and got a seat,  some one was bleeding Outside, fights had started and somehow someone was loosing blood.
  I mean,I've heard of shows where the organizers had to go through the trouble of changing four power generators because the fuel tanks were filled first with salt, and then with other very unkind things by some individuals. I've heard so much about Bokkos but now its getting bloody, it has changed so much of my perception. I do not like to pass judgment but this place has proven to be worth my verdict.

In summary the show didnt end well, it didnt even take off to even end, and we had to return to Jos by about 2am with half of the crew we went with amid deep fears of attacks on our lives on the room,  we had heard earlier on that the road was not safe at night, several testimonies, and we saw a settlement that was burned and abandoned.
