JOLEETA MEETS JOLEETA

         When I hear "Joleeta", I turn around instantly, not by conscious choice, but by reflex, because that's my name, I grew up on that one single name,  and I grew up into it. With time I got to define myself. Joleeta is this and that, with the help of a mirror, I got to know what Joleeta looks like, and I got to accept and love the image that I know to be me, Joleeta. Sometimes I wonder if anyone else would turn around on reflex when they hear "Joleeta", or am I alone in this Joleetaship. I was thinking of organising a "Joleeta Party", where everyone on th guest list would be named Joleeta, but I knew I was going to be the only guest, I haven't met anyone named Joleeta, and many I've met acknowledge that I'm the only Joleeta they have met, and haven't even heard of such a name.

 I have been frequently asked why I chose Joleeta as my stage name, to their surprise, I always say "its my real name" and they go "your father actually named you Joleeta, and then again the answer is "Yes, he did", it got to a point that I would almost have to show them my voters card or ATM card so they would believe. Is there something unique, fabulous, original, creative, beautiful about the name "Joleeta"? I strongly believe there is. Then comes the spelling, most people would spell it "Jolita" instead of "Joleeta". I love the name, and that's why I was ecstatical when I met a real life Joleeta on line.

I just randomly searched my name on google, and then came Joleeta Williams. I followed the person on twitter. She followed back instantly. She read my mind when she sent me a DM. I replied. We both expressed how weird it is to be speaking with Joleeta, and just like me, this is her first time of knowing anyone called Joleeta. She said her friends don't believe that she has found someone named Joleeta, which I understand, on my side, I was excited from my bones, I had to call my dad to share with him this news.
